Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician Esther Smith, celebrated for her spiritually uplifting music, has revealed the deeply personal reason behind her decision to step away from her career and relocate to Germany. During a recent interview on TV3, the acclaimed singer shared that her move was prompted by the need to care for her third son, who was diagnosed with a serious heart condition at just seven months old.
Esther Smith, whose music has touched the lives of many, disclosed that the decision to leave Ghana and her flourishing music career was not an easy one. As a mother, however, she felt compelled to take whatever steps were necessary to ensure the well-being of her child. "There was nothing else I could do at that moment," she shared, her voice reflecting the gravity of the situation. "I had to make that bold decision because my son needed me, and I needed to do everything in my power to give him the best possible care."
The gospel star, who has since been residing in Germany, described the period as one of the most challenging in her life. She recounted the overwhelming emotions she experienced upon receiving her son’s diagnosis, admitting that she was in shock and unable to hold back her tears. "It was a very difficult moment for me," Esther said. "But through it all, I kept my faith, knowing that I serve a living God."

She shared that her belief in God provided her with the strength to navigate the trials of that difficult time. Now, back in Ghana for a series of concerts, Esther Smith is preparing to reconnect with her fans through her music. She is scheduled to perform on Sunday, August 25th, at the Bantama Pentecost in Kumasi, and on Friday, August 30th, at the Perez Dome in Accra. These performances mark a significant return for the artist, who, despite the challenges, continues to inspire with her music and her story of perseverance.
