The Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike has spoken following the withdrawal of some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders purportedly loyal to him from the presidential campaign council of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the party.
In a meeting with some stakeholders of the party in Port Harcourt, Wike said the crisis in the party is not about him as many people think, but about the future of stakeholders of the party.“I decided to call you to this stakeholders meeting to let you know what will be my next line of action. Remember that after the primaries I’ve never said anything. I’ve never narrated my own part of the story. You may have been reading newspapers, you may have been watching in electronics or other media, this is happening, this is not happening. Until a day when I came back from one of my overseas trip, I did say to Nigerians most of these things you are hearing are all concoction, that they are not true."
"That at the appropriate time because we want to start commissioning and flagging off projects, I will let Nigerians know my own part of the story which is the correct story.
It is not about Wike, we have finished the presidential primaries, it’s over. There is nothing anybody can do about it.
But something is important for the unity of this country, for the inclusivity of everybody, one thing is very very key. It has to do with you, it has to do with your future. When you are not there when decisions are being made, there is nothing you can do about it. And so, from there you must have to say, there is imbalance, let’s do it the way we have always done it. That is what everybody is asking."
