The agriculture minister Afriyie Akoto sought to create the impression in Parliament yesterday, that there are no food shortages and the prices of food aren't costly. He insisted that in rural areas it is much cheaper to buy foodstuffs and high transportation costs affect the prices.
He was full of confidence and proposed that the simplest solution is for the ministry to transport food from farms in the rural areas to sell to consumers at a lower price in Accra.
Captain Smart was all fired up this morning as he described the minister as an incompetent person who is being paid with the taxpayer's money and yet still goes about throwing his weight around.
To him, the assertion that food prices are cheap is an eyesore to the masses and it is false that it is cheap. Hee continue by saying that if currently inflation is above 40%, how on earth would farm produce be less costly.
"You claim a tuber of yam is just 6 cedis, you are not serious? It is just unfortunate you can't solve the problem of the agricultural sector," he opined.
