In a recent interview on GHOne TV’s *State of Affairs*, the Minister for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, affirmed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has taken full responsibility for the current state of Ghana’s economy. Speaking with host Lantam Papanko on Monday, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah emphasized that the government acknowledges its role in the economic challenges facing the country and is working diligently to address them.

We acknowledge our role in the current state of the economy and are working tirelessly to find solutions,” Mr. Oppong Nkrumah stated. He highlighted that Dr. Bawumia’s willingness to address issues such as the cost of living demonstrates his acceptance of responsibility. “Yes, he has taken responsibility. Why is he talking about the cost of living? We’re talking as if we have to be scared. Why is he talking about the cost of living? Because he takes responsibility that as part of the government, people have been hit by pressures from all over the world. There’s a global cost of living crisis which is also hitting Canada, yes he hasn’t run away,” Mr. Oppong Nkrumah elaborated.

Dr. Bawumia’s response to the economic crisis, according to Mr. Oppong Nkrumah, has been marked by the introduction of over 30 policy prescriptions aimed at stabilizing the economy. These measures, he said, showcase Dr. Bawumia’s competency and capacity to lead the nation through turbulent times. “When a crisis hits, Dr. Bawumia offers alternative propositions, taking risks and introducing innovative solutions,” he added.

One of the key initiatives highlighted by Mr. Oppong Nkrumah was the Go4Oil policy, which he described as a significant response to the economic crisis. He praised Dr. Bawumia’s leadership for its role in mitigating the effects of global economic pressures on Ghana. “Dr. Bawumia’s leadership has been instrumental in mitigating the effects of the crisis. His forward-thinking approach has introduced solutions that benefit Ghanaians,” Mr. Oppong Nkrumah explained.

Furthermore, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah commended Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to the digitization agenda, noting it as a critical factor in Ghana’s economic progress. He credited the Vice President’s vision for a digitized economy with contributing to the country’s growth, stating, “Dr. Bawumia’s vision for a digitized economy has yielded positive results and demonstrates his dedication to driving growth.”

As Ghana continues to navigate through economic challenges, Dr. Bawumia’s role and initiatives are being closely watched as indicators of the government’s commitment to finding sustainable solutions.
