Former AIDS Ambassador Joyce Dzidzor Mensah Urges Bloggers to Stop Fueling Negative News

Former AIDS Ambassador and Ghanaian actress Joyce Dzidzor Mensah has called on bloggers to desist from promoting negative news about celebrities, emphasizing the need for a more supportive media landscape.

In an interview with *Graphic Showbiz*, Joyce Mensah recounted her experiences with online bullying and how bloggers have repeatedly tarnished her image. She revealed that, despite her notable contributions to the entertainment industry, many bloggers have chosen to focus on trivial issues, blowing them out of proportion for the sake of generating traffic to their websites.

"I have been one of the most bullied public figures in Ghana," Joyce said, expressing her frustration at the way her personal struggles have been exploited for clicks. She noted that while she has made significant strides in her career, including acting and collaborating with legendary artistes such as Ivorian music icon Freddy Meiway, these accomplishments are often overlooked in favor of sensationalized stories that paint her in a negative light.

Joyce stressed the importance of shifting the focus from scandal to talent in order to foster growth within the Ghanaian entertainment industry. “Social media bloggers are mostly interested in negative news because that’s what sells and they hardly support new talents. If we could all support new talents and not only dwell on negative news always, that would help our industry,” she stated.

She lamented the lack of positive coverage on her initiatives and achievements, urging bloggers to reconsider the impact of their content on the individuals they write about. Joyce highlighted the mental and emotional toll that such negative reporting takes on public figures, who are often left to deal with the repercussions of exaggerated or misleading stories.

"This has to stop. If we want to see the growth we desire in our industry, our bloggers must learn to limit the way they fuel negativity," she continued. "Even with issues that are not big, they escalate them, which is not fair, especially to us."

Joyce Mensah’s appeal reflects a broader concern within the entertainment industry, where the pursuit of sensational stories often overshadows the celebration of talent and hard work.
