Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), commenced his nationwide constituency-focused campaign tour on Thursday, August 15, 2024. The tour began in the Ashanti Region, a key stronghold for the NPP, where Dr. Prempeh, affectionately known as Napo, is set to visit all 47 constituencies to galvanize support for the party ahead of the December elections.
On the first day of the tour, Napo, accompanied by a high-profile team including Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong (MP for Assin Central), Danquah Smith (1st National Vice Chairman of NPP), Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye (National Organizer), and Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Ashanti Regional Chairman), visited three constituencies: Asante Akyem, Asante Akyem Central, and Bosome Freho. The team was met with enthusiastic crowds as party supporters and the general public gathered in large numbers to hear from Dr. Prempeh and his entourage.
During various rallies, durbars, and meetings with religious and traditional leaders, Dr. Prempeh emphasized the NPP government's track record, particularly in education, health, industrialization, and job creation. He highlighted these achievements as unparalleled in the nation's history and urged the people to continue placing their trust in the NPP by voting for the party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on December 7. Dr. Prempeh called for massive voter turnout to help the party achieve its 85% vote target in the region.
Dr. Prempeh also outlined Dr. Bawumia's vision for Ghana, which includes fostering political and religious tolerance, creating sustainable jobs, spearheading an industrial revolution, and ensuring harmonious co-existence. He urged the people of Ashanti Region and Ghanaians at large to rally behind this vision.
Speakers such as Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Chairman Wontumi, and Hon. Nana Afriyie Ayew echoed these sentiments, calling on the electorate to entrust their future and that of their children to Dr. Bawumia and the NPP.
