Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising the welfare and inclusion of members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stressing that party supporters must be acknowledged and treated as valuable stakeholders.

Dr Bawumia explained that nearly two decades of active political engagement across the country have given him a clear appreciation of the critical role grassroots members play in the party’s achievements.

In a Facebook post, he noted that he has campaigned in every constituency multiple times over the past five general elections, an experience he says has positioned him to fully understand the sacrifices and contributions of party faithful.

“After touring and campaigning in all constituencies at least six times each over the last 18 years, I have gained deep insight into the vital role our grassroots supporters play in the success and revival of the party,” he stated.

According to Dr Bawumia, this long-standing engagement with party members has influenced his push for reforms aimed at recognition, inclusion, and improved welfare, particularly for members at the local level.

“It is on this basis that I have prioritised specific measures to ensure our members feel recognised, included, and properly catered for at every level of the party,” he explained.

He added that these proposals are designed to confront persistent concerns about marginalisation and welfare challenges that have affected party supporters over the years.

During his recent visits to the Obuasi West, Akrofuom, and Obuasi East constituencies, Dr Bawumia said he personally reiterated these commitments to party members, assuring them that their concerns remain central to his vision for the NPP.

He emphasised that his plans are intended to tackle what he described as long-standing issues of exclusion and recurring welfare difficulties faced by dedicated party members.

Dr Bawumia concluded by urging party supporters to unite ahead of the January 31 contest, calling for collective effort to build a stronger and more inclusive party capable of serving Ghana effectively once again.
