Akosua Manu, Special Aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that many women in Ghana feel secure and confident under the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer. She attributes this to his conduct, approach to governance, and personal values.

Speaking on Metro TV’s MetroNews, Ms. Manu highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s calm demeanor, respect for women, and inclusive leadership as factors that have fostered trust among female supporters nationwide. She said women view him as a leader who listens, understands their needs, and prioritizes policies that enhance safety, empowerment, and dignity.

Ms. Manu emphasized that Dr. Bawumia has consistently demonstrated integrity, humility, and empathy throughout his public service career, qualities she believes resonate strongly with women. “Leadership is not only about what you say, but how you act. Dr. Bawumia’s record reflects the values that build confidence among women,” she noted.

She also pointed to several social intervention programs and digitalization initiatives introduced during Dr. Bawumia’s tenure as Vice President. According to Ms. Manu, these programs, which include expanded access to digital financial services and more efficient public systems, have particularly benefited women in small businesses and the informal sector by reducing harassment, bureaucratic hurdles, and corruption.

Her remarks have prompted debate on social media and among political commentators. Supporters praise the comments as a testament to Dr. Bawumia’s character, while critics argue for a wider discussion on women’s safety and representation in leadership positions.

As Ghana looks ahead to future elections, issues of security, inclusion, and public trust remain key topics. Ms. Manu’s comments contribute to the ongoing conversation about leadership styles and their influence on public perception, particularly among women, who continue to be pivotal in shaping the nation’s democratic process.
