Former Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, has declined to comment on the ongoing immigration case involving former Finance Minister Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta, saying it is premature to do so.

Speaking in an interview with TV3’s Beatrice Adu, Prof. Oquaye said he would only comment after all facts surrounding the matter have emerged. He added that any advice to Mr. Ofori-Atta would depend on a full review of relevant documents, including health records.

Mr. Ofori-Atta appeared before a U.S. immigration court in Virginia on January 20, 2026. The hearing, held at the Annandale Immigration Court, focused on a bond redetermination and a preliminary review of his case and has been adjourned to April 27, 2026.

He was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on January 6, 2026, following the revocation of his visitor visa. Court records indicate that he is currently being held at the Caroline Detention Center.
