Ghana's main opposition party has taken a dramatic step against one of its most outspoken members. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has ordered every single communicator and spokesperson to stay off all media platforms owned or linked to Kennedy Ohene Agyapong until further notice.
The Ban
The directive came from Richard Ahiagbah, the NPP's Director of Communications. It covers everyone — national, regional, constituency, and electoral area communicators, plus all official party spokespersons. The affected platforms include Oman FM, Ash FM, Net2 TV, and any other station connected to Agyapong.
Why Now?
The NPP says several petitions against Kennedy Agyapong have been referred to the party's National Disciplinary Committee. The committee is now investigating and will decide based on the party's constitution. The ban is meant to protect the disciplinary process, keep the party united, and stop public comments that could sway the committee's outcome.
What This Means
This is not a small internal matter. Kennedy Agyapong is a former presidential aspirant with massive influence, his own media empire, and a reputation for speaking his mind regardless of party lines. By banning all communicators from his platforms, the NPP is essentially cutting off a major media channel for its own members.
The party is making one thing clear: discipline and loyalty come first. Ahiagbah urged all officers and communicators to respect the NPP's constitutional processes. Any updates will come only through official party channels.
The Bigger Picture
This move raises big questions about the NPP's internal unity. Is this a necessary step to maintain order, or a sign of deeper cracks within the party? Agyapong has never been one to stay quiet. How he responds — and whether his media platforms continue to host NPP voices despite the ban — will be watched closely.
For Ghanaians, this is a reminder that political parties are not monoliths. Even within the NPP, disagreements run deep, and leadership is not afraid to take bold action against its own.
